A bit of this, a bit of that

Matthew joined Jerry, Terry and I are on our recent visit to Disneyland. He brought along his large used Canon camera he bought when he worked for Shooting Stars about a year ago. I’m not sure of the model, but suffice to say it is impressive not only in its size but in the prints he turns out with it. I love it when he takes pictures at Disneyland as they ALWAYS turn out great, and don’t let him tell you otherwise. I’m trying hard to learn the in’s and out’s of taking better photos with my Nikon D50. I’m sure I’m also trying his (and Jerry’s) patience by doing so.

Disneyland never disappoints with their flowers and greenery. I could do nothing but take only photos of their gardens and never be done. I hope someday to add a section with just Disneyland flora.

Another cool thing Matt does when he’s snapping photos during the day is show off (in a cool way) his prowess of how to take pictures casually and unexpectedly. I took this photo of him taking a photo of us while riding Thunder Mountain, upside down no less. Sitting in front (with Terry) of Jerry and I he just nonchalantly lifts his camera over his shoulder and snaps away, resulting in this candid photo. You gotta love it. What’s really cool is since I can’t be the cool guy with the big camera at least I can say I know him!

I love the large sun and fountain in California Adventure, especially the beautiful tile work under the water fall. I took my new (thanks Steve W) Nikon 55-200mm 1.4-2.5g with VR (vibration resistance) lens with me this time. All the images you see on this post were shot with it, including the one of the mill on the Island.

Trying out the different camera settings I was able to capture 1 image of a ghost inside the Haunted Mansion, a first for me. Terry finally bought himself a new camera, which is just like Jerry’s Canon PowerShot A570IS. I caught them comparing notes while in Frontierland.

There were several closed rides again on this visit, but a first since I’ve been going was The Jungle Cruise. When you walk out of the Indiana Jones ride Disneyland has put up a large tarp all along the walkway. Peeking through an open section of the tarp you can see they have completely drained the water, exposing the pipes and possible navigation boat guard rails that run along the canal bottom.

There are an abundance of birds at Disneyland who always seem to beg me to come closer to take their photo. They fly so close in between us when we’re walking from one ride to another that I fear sometime they will misjudge and hit us! Brave little guys.
