11/28/2007-Disneyland Adventure

Disneyland Adventures continues this time with good friends Terry & Karen in tow, which always make our visit fun. With Christmas at the Resort underway it was no surprise to see that the 3 welcome signs had new pictures and cute ones at that!

The newest and one of the most exciting events at the Disneyland Resort this year has to be the icicles and snow at Sleeping Beauty Castle. There is a new lights show as well, with snow. Apparently around 5:30 pm a narrative starts on the speakers around the castle followed by a beautiful lights show. I believe part of this show is the lighting of the new icicles and new narrative story line. It all sounds wonderful. In the 2 above photos you can see what the icicles look like.

The Main Street Christmas tree is always decorated up grand with it’s amazing amount of ornaments. In you look closely in the 2nd photo you will see Karen and I in the blue ornament with Main Street behind us! The camera flash unexpectedly blocked the view of my face, ha! Notice the detail of this approximately 12″ soilder, just one of the many ornaments on this particular tree.

Terry is usually clowning around which can make it fun to hang with him, but this time he was posing nicely with wife Karen in the front of the Main Street Christmas tree. As always Disneyland Resort Master Gardeners plant according to seasons and holidays, shown here with these artfully arranged poinsetta’s. Upon entering Disneyland in the morning Jerry and I usually head straight to Space Mountain. Terry always asks us to turn around at the entrance of the walkway up to the ride, which we usually do for him.

Jerry and I have been riding the Spinning Teacups lately and I just love them. When it’s Jerry’s turn to spin me fast I totally relax and feel so free, such a wonderful feeling. You can see the Matterhorn looming in the distance behind them.

Jerry, Terry, Karen and I headed over to Woody’s Round Up, where we heard there were reindeer with a possibility that Santa Claus was in town. There were plenty of reinder, some with very large antlers! We then met the nicest Cast Member named Mike who was wearing a very unique ring. When I inquired about it he said it was called the Prairie Diamond and it was made out of a horse shoe nail. Mike said the neatest thing about this ring was the secret on the back side. When he turned it over we saw not 1 but 2 Hidden Mickey’s stamped into the nail. I’ll bet not many park go’ers know about this Hidden Mickey!

Since the park was in full holiday mode there were many items you could buy with that related theme. Possibly one of the cutest ones after a santa suited Tinkerbell was the Nightmare Before Christmas Santy Claus! The funnest part of the day at Disneyland for me was getting to have a personal dance with Pluto. Jerry even took a video of the dance. If you’re interested go to the new Video Entertainment section under pages on the right side and check it out! We even waited in a short line to see Santa. I can’t tell you what I asked for as it’s a secret and if you tell you won’t get it! Sure was a cute friendly Santa.

After getting our fill of Disneyland the four of us headed over to California Adventure. Karen totally surprised me by finding another Hidden Mickey at Santa’s Beach Party. The photo at the left shows the Mickey she tried to make me believe for the 2nd time was a REAL one! I’m not falling for this twice! The Disneyland Monorail has been repainted with the Year Of A Million Dreams on the front of it with TinkerBell leading the way!

The Grand Californian Hotel also has a Christmas tree every year, placed in the center of the hotel lobby. It is covered with more than 100,000 Christmas tree lights and looks gorgeous. The rust colored poinsettia is just one of many that adorn this beautiful tree.

By 2:30 Jerry, Terry, Karen and I were ready to leave both parks. Looking back on Disneyland Main Street entrance, people were beginning to come to play at the park by the dozen. Main Street looks so pretty with the garlands and large decorated Christmas Tree. Merry Christmas everyone!
