San Diego Get Away

Reuben H Fleet Science Center San Diego Balboa Pk
On the first day of our weekend getaway to the San Diego area we went to the Reuben H Fleet Science Museum located in Balboa Park. We took the kids here when they were little, and it seems like not a lot has changed! Still it was fun and the price was good due to the Smithsonian offering free admission to select museums around the country. The best part which we parted our money for was the Imax Movie “Wild California”. It was such a thrilling large screen movie with all kinds of daredevil sports, skysurfering, climbing a thirty-story tall Giant Sequoia with botanists then exploring a 125 feet deep cave within the tree, California’s biggest, surfable waves. Heartpounding! Loved it!

Balboa Park San Diego1

After the science museum we walked around Balboa Park, which is a day’s worth of sight seeing in itself. There are multiple museums (all with an admission price now as opposed to when we took the kids when they were little), places to eat, outdoor venues, gardens, and people watching to keep one entertained for hours on end. I love all the architecture on the buildings!

Hotel Del Coronado
After going to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Museum and touring Balboa Park we headed off to our real San Diego Destination, The Hotel Del Coronado. I was so excited!
