Yuki accident July 2009
I know for a fact that all 4 of the So Cal Fuller’s had a long day, but this one, Pat, got to see Yuki-baby twice today. Her prognosis: Front L shoulder fracture pulled away from body-shoulder can be repaired with surgery but won’t if she never regains feeling. Dr’s may splint L leg to use as peg or may amputate L leg if she regains back leg function. Right now they’ll wait and see.

Matt posted this photo on his facebook account. His comment was worth…well…read for yourselves…”Matt Fuller: This is what a $6,000 smile looks like…”

Matt said to me tonight as we waited with Jerry to see Yuki in the animal hospital waiting room “Have as much of this coffee as you want, I know am, I’m buying!”

I so wanted to have proof positive that Jerry/grandpa was indeed there to visit Yuki. and since I left my camera card at home, I decided to use Jerry’s camera. Of course he dropped it a while ago so it doesn’t always focus correctly. You have to give me credit for trying!

Yuki’s back legs are a different injury – trauma to spinal cord, mid-back region – 1 of the discs hit the spinal cord and caused a trauma/inflammation. There is no compression of the spinal-cord, and often cases such as these get better over time, but we won’t know for sure, it can take 4-8 weeks to recover, and again she may never recover, time will tell. Some dogs with this injury walk again after 2 days, some never recover. Yuki’s bladder is intact, she is on a catheter right now.

During the afternoon visit Yuki seemed more alert, her color was better and she seemed to be moving around a bit more. Her bowel movements are working (grandma is making her blush), although she is not eating on her own. She is syringe fed, and is more aware. The Dr’s are feeling a bit more positive about her re-gaining the use of her hind legs, although they make no promises! We love you Yuk-ster! Please hang in there and continue trying hard baby. We are praying for you!
