My sweet husband, Jerry and I decided to change things up a bit in our back yard this last Saturday. The grass under the large Mulberry tree on the left of our yard has been struggling to grow for some time now, so we decided to extend the gravel area that we laid down when he was off work all the way over to the gate by our patio. We also decided to move the potting bench and the composter both of which were on the small patio corner by the gate. Now the composter is all that sits on the patio and we have access to the gate which goes out to the south west side of our house where our line of cypress trees are. We moved the potting bench over in front of the fence on the gravel where it will be easier to get to and use. Eventually it will have a water hookup, something I’ve also wanted, especially since I have a beautiful (when clean) sink in it that I got at Salvation Army years ago for a mere $7.00! My girlfriend Carol thinks it was probably made in Mexico. When we moved things around we found out the post to the gate is broken, and another honey-do that I know my sweet hubby just can’t wait to get to is born
Just ignore the unfinished mess on the patio because it will get done when it gets done! We want to extend the patio out a bit my putting stepping stones down on the outer edge of the patio. We bought a few extra stepping stones at Home Depot and laid them down to kind of see what it would look like with the edging, etc. As soon as Jerry stepped on top of one of them it broke! We’re thinking this batch of stones is of poor quality and hoping it won’t be something we find across the board when I go look for them at Lowe’s. Very aggravating because we have them laid down in the grass in different areas of the yard and they’ve been fine for years!
For those of you who haven’t read all of my older website posts, Jerry built the potting bench for me as a birthday present many years back. The pattern was in a favorite garden magazine and when I was lucky enough to find the sink, he worked it into the design.

Oh, your backyard is beautiful enough without any changes! I simply adore spending time, to relax and feel the peacefulness (when I have come to visit!). Keep up the great work there!

I can’t believe how much work you and Jerry have done in your yard! The addition of the area around the patio looks great and I can’t wait to see those new trees grow tall and fat to fill in the area on the side yard. Don’t overdo it!
